Overview
RoCEv2 (RDMA over Converged Ethernet v2) has emerged as a key technology for high-performance networking, offering significant advantages over traditional protocols like TCP. It is compatible with existing Ethernet infrastructure while delivering exceptional performance, including ultra-low latency and line-rate bandwidth. Consequently, many hyperscalers have adopted RoCEv2-based RNICs in their data centers, which often host tens of thousands of GPUs.
However, existing RoCEv2-based RNICs face significant challenges, particularly for connection scalability. These devices struggle to maintain performance when managing a large number of concurrent Queue Pairs (QPs), even at a few hundred QPs. In large-scale environments where each RNIC manages thousands of QPs, this limitation becomes a critical performance bottleneck. Additionally, these RNICs are typically hard-wired, lacking the flexibility to adapt protocols to meet specific user needs. This limitation prevents optimizations that could improve performance for particular workloads or applications.
Mango GPUBoost™ - RDMA, on the other hand, offers improved connection scalability and customizability by leveraging its flexible FPGA-based RoCEv2 RNIC solution. It empowers users to manage thousands of QPs efficiently while enabling protocol optimizations tailored to specific workflows and applications.
